The California edition of Great Homeschool Conventions served West Coast families with speaker sessions, curriculum shopping and practical support for parent-directed education. Held in Ontario, the 2026 gathering brought a national convention format closer to families who might not travel to the organization's eastern or Midwestern locations. Parents could explore materials in person, ask vendors about teaching methods and hear presentations addressing both academics and the realities of family life.

The GHC program included support for people at different points in the homeschool journey. Broad convention tracks addressed beginning homeschool, parenting, classical education, neurodivergent learners, college planning and questions facing teenagers. The exhibit hall gathered curriculum and resource providers across subjects and age levels, giving families a chance to compare products before committing to a full year. Optional programs and shared activities also supported families attending together.

California families make educational decisions within their own legal, cultural and practical setting, so national advice still requires local judgment. A useful resource must fit the student, the parent's capacity, the household budget and applicable requirements. The convention's value was in giving families a large set of options and conversations in one place, not in prescribing a single model. FMN independently summarized the event from the organizer's public materials.
