Privacy Policy

How Family Media News collects, uses, protects and shares information when you use our website, newsletters and services.

Effective August 1, 2026 · Last updated August 1, 2026

1. Scope

This policy applies to FamilyMediaNews.com and services operated by Family Media News (“FMN,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It does not govern third-party websites that we link to.

2. Information we collect

  • Information you provide: email addresses for newsletters, event calendar subscriptions, messages, event submissions, news tips, correction requests and business inquiries.
  • Calendar consent records: the consent language, signup source and timestamps associated with an event calendar subscription.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, referring pages, timestamps and basic usage data generated by hosting, security and analytics services.
  • Editorial records: correspondence, source material and audit records needed to evaluate, verify and document our reporting.

3. How we use information

We use information to provide requested services, operate and secure the site, maintain event calendar subscriptions, send calendar and event communications you requested, improve our coverage, respond to inquiries, maintain editorial accountability, enforce our terms and comply with law.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Our hosting and security providers may use essential cookies or similar technologies to deliver and protect the site. If we introduce non-essential analytics or advertising cookies, we will update this policy and provide any choices required by applicable law.

5. When information is shared

We may share limited information with vendors that help us host, secure, analyze or communicate through the service; when you direct us to; to protect rights and safety; during a business transaction; or when legally required. We do not sell personal information for money.

6. Data retention and security

We retain active event calendar subscription records while you remain subscribed and retain limited consent or suppression records when reasonably needed to honor your choices and meet legal obligations. Other information is retained only as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including legal, security and editorial recordkeeping needs. No security method is perfect, but we use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards.

7. Your choices and privacy rights

You may unsubscribe using the link in a newsletter or email privacy@familymedianews.com. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion or a copy of certain personal information, or to object to certain uses. We may verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

8. Children’s privacy

FMN is a general-audience news service intended for parents and other adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information should contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

9. External links and international use

Third-party sites have their own privacy practices. If you access FMN outside the United States, information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our providers operate.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as our services change. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice when required.
